FYI: did a 10000 round simulation for each level (twice). I was optimizing on effective levels (so I counted the 1/2 xp penalty levels for failure twice). By and large, I came up with the same results; I just tightened up the bounds a little bit.
As an aside: i get ~550 expected levels worth of xp to gain (morph level + penalties).
